This is a fine gope board from the noted Sydney collector John Rix. The gope is the sister piece to one published in the infamous "Seized Collection" and was carved by one of the last great carvers of Goribari Island around 1930. The gope is a thin example with an old hole at the top for suspension or lashing and a reverse showing good age and deeply scalloped adze marks. The piece is large at 67" in height. sold
